EU Baltic Sea Strategy adopted
On 26 October, the General Affairs Council, under the chairmanship of Cecilia Malmström, adopted the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. Thus one of the Swedish Presidency's top priorities is brought to a successful conclusion.
The Strategy is also on the agenda for the European Council meeting in Brussels on 29-30 October, when the EU heads of state and government are expected to endorse it and comment on what form the future work on the strategy should take.
More information about the Strategy can be found here. To download relevant documents click here.
The EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region is a macro-regional strategy that will facilitate cooperation between the countries around the Baltic, making cooperation more effective without it costing any more.
